Before an embryo implant into the uterus it must hatch from the zona pellucida
>>
Sometimes the Zona pellucida is too thick and embryo cannot come out :

Main indications :
-
Age factor : Women over 39 years
+ Elevated FSH level
+ Recurrent failure of embryo implantation
The assisted hatching procedure involves thinning or making a small hole in the zona pellucida that surrounds the embryo
|
1 - Chemical Technique

- The embryo is held with a specialized holding pipette.
- A very delicate, hollow needle is used to expel an tyrode acidic solution against the zona pellucida of the embryo.
- A small hole is made in the shell by digesting it with the thyrode acidic solution.
- The embryo is then washed and put back in culture in the incubator during a short time.
2 - Mechanical Technique
By rubbing on the contention pipette.

3 - Physical Technique : Laser
Hatching is performed for each embryo Just before transfert in uterus.
Some clinics reported no benefit when assisted hatching was offered to all patients, while others reported significant increases in clinical pregnancy and implantation rates following assisted hatching when the procedure was performed in selected groups of patients. |
